Wish could stay a little longer

Rooms very comfortable with special discounts. Well furnished with A/C, hot water etc. View excellent. Food delicious. Above all staff very friendly and we were feeling homely. Can recommend for those who have not been to Arugambay. We were able to visit some very important historic Buddhist places of worship such as Magul Maha Viharaya, Muhudu Maha Viharaya, Kotavehera etc. which are located close by.

All in all there were less visitors to Arugambay. Hospitality industry cannot run without tourists. Sri Lanka is a safe place to travel. People are friendly and hospitable. We were unable to visit Kudumbigala and Okanda etc.

Value for money

The staff was very friendly and so helpful. The fact that both sun rise and set can be seen from this place is amazing.. Food was also mouthwatering. Parking was super convenient. Since there is a STF base in front of the hotel, safety is also ensured.

What was the highlight of Hotel Rise & Set - Arugambay

Superbly location, high quality and spacious rooms, very professional management.

The location could not be better - half the rooms have lagoon views, half have sea views. Surf beach 5 minutes walk. Opposite the hotel is a security forces detachment so the hotel could not be safer. The owner, a retired senior Air Force officer, lives in the hotel, has extensive knowledge of the area (and indeed all of Sri Lanka) and sets very high standards. Highlight of the trip was a nights camping by a river in Kumana National Park, organised very professionally by the hotel. Eating delicious BBQ'd food under a brilliant night sky, seeing 3 leopards and large numbers of most of Sri Lankas wildlife, waking up in the jungle to a chorus of bird calls a never to be forgotten experience. The hotel rooms are huge, all with balconies and very tastefully decorated, the rooftop allows views of sea, lagoon, sunrise and sunset, and if you wish, you could have a cocktail during either.

I wish I had a longer stay.

Room was very spacious and clean and the lady who managed the place was friendly and very supportive. You should be able to see both sun set and sun rise from the roof top and also can reach the beach in just 2mins walk

great professional management, smiley, friendly staff. nice and very clean place, we appreciate the breakfast and rise and set unique sea food fried rice. we had our room on the lagoon view with the sunset it was awesome.

Just perfect

Perfect location... Bit far from the beach but that makes the location perfect for families and calmness seekers. Very friendly staff, kids liked them instantly. Organized kumana safari tour for a reasonable price. I highly recommend this place.

Wonderful

Definitely worth the price. The staff was really friendly and made sure we were comfortable. Very spacious and comfortable bed and room was also very spacious and clean. Food was great. Dasun and the staff were incredible. Will definitely book the during our next visit too.

Very chill and decent holiday price if you don't mind a medium walk to Arugam bay

The breakfast was quite decent. I really liked that when I told them I was craving a rotti, they cooked one for me personally. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Even though it wasn't in the middle of Arugam bay, we were really close to the beach. Therefore, it was very chill and we could take a medium walk to Arugam bay which was not a problem for us. P.S.: To go to the beach you have to go left and find an opening, in the opposite direction of Arugam bay

The breakfast could have been better if it were local cuisine, but it wasn't bad. On the other hand, we booked a sea view room, but from ours there was not much sea view, it was 95% covered. It was possible to walk on the outer terrace and see the sea and the lake, but it was quite hot outside, and it is shared with other rooms (which was not a problem for us, but maybe it is for other guests).

Wonderful

Location, food, hospitality, staff are exceptional and even they provided with a cab service. Very friendly and a helpful staff. They were even so generous in helping the guests when they take ill.

Nothing much to fault on but would prefer to have a kettle and some tea bags with cups to make some tea in the room.

Beautiful rooms, with views of the ocean and lagoon

Beautiful large spacious rooms. Ours had a view over the lagoon where we could watch the sun set. There is a roof top bar with view of both sunrise over the ocean and sunset over the lagoon where you can have a cocktail in the evening. The massages were amazing, highly recommend. Everything was so affordable and well worth the money.

It is a short walk from town but we actually liked being away from the hustle and bustle at the end of the day and it is still quick to walk into town if you wanted to go out for dinner/drinks.

Very pleasant stay

Good location, just far enough from the Main Street area of arugam bay that it’s quiet at night while still being very easy to reach the action. Huge rooms with very comfy king/queen size beds and huge bathrooms. Really enjoyed the balcony views of the bay and watching the fishermen out on the water. And even by Sri Lankan standards the staff were exceptional friendly and helpful. Delicious breakfast too.

The towels and bedsheets in my room, while clean, were definitely showing signs of age and heavy usage. Probably time for a few of those towels to be replaced. Didn’t bother me at all, just an observation
